What a fluke season we are having here lately! Our customers have been catching consistent fish from 5-9 pounds with the scales topping out near 11 pounds! The lions share of the action is coming in deep water BUT, close. Our local shoals are loaded with bait and it is no doubt the reason why our flat fish are staying fat, happy, and most importantly LOCAL! We are completely loaded up on M3 spoons, Gulp! including all the new colors, and are expecting a refresh of S&S Lures John Skinner Series fluke jigs.
Blue fish abound right now as a school of monster choppers has worked its way into the sound. Before this school came in the average blue was hovering around 2-3 pounds, but now we are seeing some 10-20 pound fish molesting schools of bunker mid sound. Chunks, tails, metals, and poppers are all taking their fair share of blues.
On the striped bass front, night time is the right time! Good tides this weekend with a dark new moon sky should bode well for those looking for linesiders. Eels and bunker should be in your quiver before you set out on boat or shore.
Offshore, our recent intel reports great tile fishing between Fishtails and Atlantis on the flats. Small mahi have mixed in with the tuna now and we are one storm away from having a close to shore mahi explosion in our estimate.
The forecast is favorable all weekend folks. Get out and fish!
